Goodman Furnace Ignitor Doesn T Glow

An open limit or thermostatic rollout will not allow the furnace ignitor to glow until the furnace cools down.

Stop immediately if you smell gas. The heat relay is not allowing voltage to flow to the igniter but is allowing everything else to work. Again if it is receiving voltage the igniter is bad if it is not receiving voltage then the control board is bad. Yes everything else can work and the control board is bad.

As there was sufficient voltage to the gas valve i was advised by a tech over the phone to replace the gas valve and did so it fired up about three times and each time it didn t reach the temperature desired. When a furnace has a bad ignitor. Find the gas supply valve next to or behind the furnace and rotate the valve to the open position typically by twisting counterclockwise. The other half of the time the thermostat calls for heat the inducer fan comes on the pilot valve opens the glow plug glows but the pilot will not light. The thermostat calls for heat the inducer motor starts running but the ignitor doesn t glow.

I put a meter on the wires going to the ignitor and found no power during the start up sequence. When i hear the click of the gas coming on i can light the furnace with read more. 2 months ago it just started glowing and not igniting and after doing some basic troubleshooting reboot clean filters reset thermostat the problem wasn t solved. Pressure switch attached by a small plastic or rubber tube senses the negative pressure produced by the draft inducer and closes.
