2 months ago it just started glowing and not igniting and after doing some basic troubleshooting reboot clean filters reset thermostat the problem wasn t solved.
Goodman furnace ignitor not glowing.
As there was sufficient voltage to the gas valve i was advised by a tech over the phone to replace the gas valve and did so it fired up about three times and each time it didn t reach the temperature desired.
The ignitor did not glow the flame sensor a small metal probe about 1 8 in diameter with a white porcelain base does not sense the flame so after 8 to 10 seconds the hissing sounds stops with no ignition of gas to heat your home.
Find the gas supply valve next to or behind the furnace and rotate the valve to the open position typically by twisting counterclockwise.
The heat relay is not allowing voltage to flow to the igniter but is allowing everything else to work.
The electronic ignitor slowly begins to glow until it is hot enough to light the gas and start the furnace burners.
Again if it is receiving voltage the igniter is bad if it is not receiving voltage then the control board is bad.
Turn the furnace off and leave the house.
Stop immediately if you smell gas.
You might smell some gas.
When the furnace is equipped with an electronic ignitor you cannot light it.
If the furnace operates for a while then shuts off and will not ignite again for 20 minutes then i would suggest checking the limit and rollout switches to make sure all of them are staying closed.
The goodman furnace may not be receiving an adequate gas supply if the glow ignitor turns on but the furnace cannot ignite.
An open limit or thermostatic rollout will not allow the furnace ignitor to glow until the furnace cools down.
I have a constant flashing light on the control board but answered by a verified hvac technician we use cookies to give you the best possible experience on our website.
